01Omorig structure and basic principle
Omorig uses a separate line for the sinker and the jig, allowing the heavy sinker to drop first and quickly reach the target depth. On top of that, a jig attached to a 1–1.5 m leader drifts with the current, naturally attracting spear squid.
Sinker weight is chosen from 20 go (≈75 g), 25 go (≈90 g), or 30 go (≈110 g) and adjusted according to depth and current strength. The deeper and stronger the current, the heavier sinker helps stabilize bottom placement.
Slim long‑type sinkers minimize snagging and are designed to explore bottom layers quickly, covering a wider depth range than traditional eging.
02Color selection criteria
Jig color is adjusted for depth, current, and time of day to improve visibility. In shallow water and weak currents, natural colors (earth‑tone or blue) reduce fish wariness and increase hook‑ups.
In deep water, strong currents, or at night, glow jigs should be used to enhance visibility. Glow jigs reflect light underwater, stimulating fish vision.
When selecting color, also consider water temperature and clarity. Between 12–24 °C, cuttlefish have low color sensitivity, making glow jigs effective, and bright colors work better in low‑clarity water.

03Size and go matching
Typical jig sizes are 2.5–4.0 go for the South Sea region and 3.0–4.5 go for the Jeju region; the main line is PE 0.6–1.2 go with a fluorocarbon 12–20 lb leader attached for 1–1.5 m.
The deeper the water and the stronger the current, the more weight is needed, so use 3.5–4.5 go jigs to secure heft. In shallow water with weak currents, 2.5–3.0 go jigs capture subtle bites more easily.
Larger jig sizes take longer for fish to detect, so in areas with fine bites, choosing a smaller go is safer.
04Practical application stage
1) Before the trip, check on‑site depth and current information and decide the sinker go. Generally, 20–25 go sinkers suit depths of 15–30 m.
2) Match jig color and go to depth and time of day. For example, after 18:00 at a shallow spot, use natural‑color 2.5 go; at a deep spot, choose glow 4.0 go.
3) Set the leader length to 1–1.5 m and attach a fluorocarbon leader of about 15 lb to maintain durability under strong pulls.
